By the decision of the Minsk City Executive Committee No. 3250 dated November 03, 2016 On renaming the institution “Specialized Children’s and Youth School of the Olympic Reserve in Athletics “Athlete” of the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Minsk City Executive Committee (hereinafter – SDYUSHOR), it was renamed into the institution “Minsk City Center of the Olympic Reserve in Athletics “Athlete”(hereinafter – The center).

The subject of the Center’s activity is the development of athletics in the territory of Minsk, the training of sports reserves and high-class athletes.

Enrollment of children in the Center on a budget form is carried out with the written permission of the parents (application), a medical certificate of health (certificate from the doctor of the district polyclinic) and an identity document.

Training sessions are conducted without payment for sports training at all stages of preparation. Admission to the initial training groups at the Center is made from the age of 7 on a competitive basis from among persons who do not have medical contraindications.

The Center conducts sports training with athletes – students of 29 qualified coaches – teachers in sports, of which they have: the highest qualification category of a coach – teacher in sports – 6 people, the first 6 people, the second – 8 people.

Currently, the Center has 49 training groups, of which: groups of higher sports skills – 4, sports improvement – 3, educational and training – 22, initial training – 20.

433 student athletes are undergoing sports training at the Center. The training groups include student athletes included in the roster of the national and national athletics team of the Republic of Belarus in the number of 9 people.

The former Sports School-10, organized in 1972, joined the Minsk-2006 Basketball Club as a structural unit in June 2006. For more than 40 years, the school has been a training center for high-class basketball players not only in Minsk, but throughout the country. The school’s teams have repeatedly become champions and prize-winners of All-Union and republican competitions in different age groups.

Conditions for admission to the initial training groups for the budget form.

In order to provide student athletes with conditions for active and meaningful leisure, a healthy lifestyle and sports achievements, admission to the initial training groups for a budget form is carried out annually, according to the recruitment plan, in the period from 01.09 to 01.10. Girls and boys aged 10-12 years who do not have contraindications for their chosen sport and who have passed the control-entrance standards for OFP and swimming.

Sports base for rowing on the ave. Winners 18/1 includes:
• swimming pool 25 m with 3 lanes;
• rowing pool with 8 seats;
• kayaking pool with 9 seats;
• 20-seat canoeing pool;
• hall of special simulators: academic, kayaking, canoe;
• weight training halls – 24 simulators;
• 2 saunas (sauna at low prices in Minsk)
• boathouses for storing boats – 8 pieces with a total area of 1020 sq.m.

Cultivated sports: sailing

The Sailing School provides for the recruitment of boys and girls (8-10 years old) into groups of initial training in sailing on a budgetary basis, carried out from among persons who do not have medical contraindications, who have fulfilled the standards for physical and special training (control and transfer standards) defined by the sailing curriculum.

The recruitment of children is carried out, as a rule, in the month of September, and the viewing and selection of the most promising and gifted children (predisposition to the sport, the degree of desire to engage in their chosen sport, discipline, responsibility, diligence, independence, observance of the sports regime, respect for the honor and dignity of coaches, staff, student athletes, careful attitude to property and sports equipment) – throughout the school year. The training process includes: general physical training, special physical training, theoretical classes, training sessions on the water. In order to assess sports training, every academic year in April-May, all student athletes take control and transfer standards. In case of successful completion of control and transfer standards, positive dynamics of growth of sports results, passing medical examinations and obtaining admission to classes (2 times a year), by decision of the coaching council, student athletes are transferred to the next stage (year) of sports training.

Admission of students to the initial training groups for the budget form of education is carried out annually during the month of September. Admission of children to primary education groups (hereinafter referred to as GNP) the budget form is carried out on a competitive basis, from among persons who do not have medical contraindications to swimming, established in accordance with the annex to the Resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus dated June 30, 2014 No. 49 “On the establishment of medical contraindications to sports and invalidation of the resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus dated May 27, 211 No. 47”.

All candidates wishing to participate in the competitive selection for sports training in the GNP are considered at the Youth Swimming School “Yantar”. The main selection and recruitment of promising and gifted children on a competitive basis with enrollment in GNP-1 G.O. takes place in September-October, and screening and further selection throughout the school year.

The following indicators are taken into account when selecting for initial training groups:
– children’s health status (mandatory availability of a medical certificate);
– the degree of compliance with the morphotype of children with swimming conditions (body length forecast; shoulder width, limb length level; special flexibility of the foot; degree of mobility in shoulder joints, knee, hip and lumbar; ratio of chest girth to height; weight-height index; etc.);
– the level of profile physical qualities for swimmers (flexibility, endurance, coordination abilities);
– the level of specialized sensations and especially the “feeling of water” (assessed during the beginner’s swimming movements);
– hydrodynamic abilities (sliding length from the side; buoyancy level);
– athletic predisposition, athletic inclination;
– genetic predisposition;
– the degree of desire to engage in a chosen sport , etc .

At the end of the school year, all students of the HNP pass control and transfer standards to determine the criteria for evaluating sports training and the possibility of moving to the next stage of training. Every year, at a meeting of the coaching and pedagogical council of the school, the Regulations on conducting control and transfer competitions for students of the Yantar Youth Sports School for general and special physical fitness (based on the Swimming Program for specialized educational and sports institutions and Olympic reserve schools) are considered and approved.

To date, the Youth Swimming School “Yantar” has 9 GPN – 1 year of training.

The school also has 7 GNP – 2 years of study. At this stage of training, children move from GPN – 1 year of study according to the results of control and transfer standards and those who do not have medical contraindications to swimming lessons.

In the Youth swimming School “Yantar”, 4 GNPs are open and work on a paid basis.

Children who have not passed the competitive selection in the GNP on a free basis and who do not have medical contraindications to swimming can be enrolled in the GNP on a paid basis. The organization and conduct of the educational and training process, as well as the planning and content of classes in the GPN on a paid basis, is identical to the GNP on a free basis. Children who have successfully passed the control and transfer standards at the end of the school year, who do not have medical contraindications to swimming, as well as by the decision of the coaching and pedagogical council of the school, can be transferred to the next stage of training on a free basis.

Achievements of pupils.

In 1973, employees of the Minsk Automobile Plant built the Yantar swimming pool for the mass rehabilitation of the adult population, children of the Zavodsky district and the entire city of Minsk as a whole. In 1975, a children’s and youth sports school for swimming was founded at the plant, which was entrusted with the functions of physical education and sports training for children, adolescents, boys and girls, as well as training sports reserves. There are two baths in the pool: a small one – 12m for initial swimming training and a large one – 25m for the educational and training process. Since July 2003. The youth sports school “Yantar” was transferred from RUE “MAZ” to the municipal property of Minsk, the founder of which is the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

More than once, athletes-students of the school became winners and prize-winners of republican competitions, international tournaments, and official international competitions. Oleg Rukhlevich, the record holder and champion of Belarus, winner of the Belarusian Cup, winner of the European Championship, participant of the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000, was brought up on the water paths of the pool.

Athletes of the Yantar Youth Swimming School constantly rise to the highest step of the National and city competitions, and in the team championship they almost always hold the laurels of the winner. The strongest athletes of the Yantar Youth Sports School have repeatedly raised the Belarusian flag at international swimming competitions in Poland, Lithuania, France, Luxembourg, Ukraine, Germany, and Russia.

An integral symbol of the school’s sports life is the international swimming tournament dedicated to the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Lisa Chaikina, on whose street the swimming pool building is located. This tournament has been held since 1981, thus gaining the status of a traditional one. Athletes from different parts of Belarus and countries of the near and far abroad (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russian Federation) come together annually. Every year there are more and more teams and participants, and the tournament is gaining well-deserved authority among coaches and their students. Alexandra Gerasimena, Svetlana Khokhlova, Alexander Gukov, Dmitry Koptur and many others, who later became famous and titled athletes, took part in this tournament.

The institution has acquired the status of a youth sports school since June 2012.

There are 12 coaches-teachers at the Youth Sports School, including 1 Honored Coach of the BSSR Kasyanov Boris Vadimovich, 4 coaches of the 1st qualification category, 5 coaches of the 2nd qualification category, 3 coaches without a category.

Margarita Karaseva, an athlete and student of the school, participated in the international competitions (July 14-19, 2013) Olympic Youth Festival of Europe as part of the RB national team. Utrecht (Netherlands).

A pupil of the Sokol Lilia school, as part of the RB national team, took part in the international competitions “XIII European Youth Olympic Summer Festival”, which was held from July 26 to August 1, 2015 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

The Neptune Youth swimming team has repeatedly won swimming competitions at the championships of Minsk (Olympic Hopes, Minsk Swimming Championship in the program “Cheerful Dolphin”, “Olympic Youth Days”, Spartakiad among the Youth Sports schools of Minsk) and the Republic of Belarus (Olympic Youth Days, Spartakiad of the Republic of Belarus among Youth Sports School, Sports Contest of schoolchildren of the Republic of Belarus).

Athletes-students of the school demonstrate good results in international competitions. In the 2014-2015 academic year, they took part in the 48th Geneva International tournament “43 INTERNATIONAL SPIDOMEETING” (Austria), the international tournament “SHERATON POZNAN CUP” (Republic of Poland), the international tournaments “LEADER 2014” and “LEADER 2015” (Latvia), in the international tournament “XXIV eme Meeting International de Saint-Dizier ” (France), in international swimming tournaments for the Cup of the President of the Federation of Swimming and Synchronized Swimming of the Tosnensky district (Russia).
