Go-karting. The first experience of building karts in Belarus belongs to enthusiasts-lovers of the Minsk motorcycle factory. In the 60s, there were not even special tires for wheels. They were taken from airplanes and scooters and adapted for karting, the color of the car was chosen arbitrarily, like all the ammunition of the athlete. Protective helmets were made by themselves, sometimes they were successfully replaced by tank helmets. The athlete’s outfit was completed with canvas boots.

The first Belarusian Karting Championship was held in 1964. In 1967, a specialized children’s and youth sports school was opened in Minsk. for motorsport. In subsequent years, Belarusians began to appear more and more often on the All-Union sports arena. At the Championship of the Union among children’s sports schools, Andrey Khvoshchinsky from Minsk took the third place, the next year he took the second place in competitions of the same rank. The first legendary national karting team of the republic included Vsevolod Kleninsky, at that time the chief designer of the bicycle factory, Mikhail Sapozhikov, coach of the national team of the bicycle factory and Alexander Kovalik, a student of the Belarusian Institute of Physical Education.

V.Kleninsky and M. Sapozhnikov performed in the Intercontinental class, and A. Kovalik defended the honor of the republic in the International class. In this composition, for the first time, the national team of the BSSR becomes the Champion of the Soviet Union in karting in Krasnodon.

Over the years, athletes who became Champions of the Republic of Belarus have contributed to the history of karting: Ilya Ugolnik, Andrey Khvoshchinsky, Viktor Silivonchik, Alexander Kovalik, Andrey Govorushkin, Alexander Pustokhod, Alexey Kuchuk, Maxim Malashenko, Vladimir Lebedev. In 1987, in Novosibirsk, the national team of Belarus rose to the highest step of the podium at the USSR Winter Championship.

Every year, the best Belarusian karting players participate in the Rotax–Max Challenge. The best athletes: Vladimir Stepanov – MS, multiple champion of the Republic of Belarus, Dmitry Rimashevsky – MS, multiple champion of the Republic of Belarus.
