History of Sambo development in Minsk

The initiator of the development of sambo wrestling in the Byelorussian SSR was an employee of the Minsk city police department, Mikhail Ivanovich Lyunas, who in March 1941 took part in the first training camp of sambo wrestling coaches, held by the Central Council “Dynamo” in Moscow.
In 1946, M.I. Lyunas began organizing sambo wrestling sections.
In 1947, he held the first republican training camp in Minsk to study the methodology of teaching and training wrestling.

In 1950, five teams with a total of 43 athletes took part in the personal and team SAMBO championship of the BSSR. Since 1952, the individual and team championships of the republic have been held annually.

Since 1997, the Belarusian Open Sambo Championship has been held in Minsk for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the World Championship was held in 1992, the European Championship in 1995, the European Championship among boys, girls, juniors and juniors in 2008 in Brest, the European Championship among men and women in 2010 in Minsk. In November 2012, the Belarusian capital, 20 years later, once again hosts the World Championship in sports and combat sambo among adults.

The history of the development of combat sambo and mixed martial arts in Minsk

The starting point of the formation of combat sambo in Minsk can be considered February 9, 2012, when the founding Conference was held, at which a decision was made to create the FEDERATION OF COMBAT SAMBO AND MIXED MARTIAL ARTS!

The Conference was attended by distinguished people from the world of sambo, judo, hand-to-hand combat. Representatives of law enforcement agencies and security forces of the Republic of Belarus were also invited.

During the Conference, issues regarding the name of the Public Association, the adoption of the charter were considered, elections to the governing body were held, a sample emblem was adopted, and immediate and future areas of work were determined.

Vakhtang Sergeevich Sokhadze was elected as the Chairman of the Federation.

Alexander Voronovich became the first Deputy chairman and Executive director of the federation. Vladimir Arkadyevich Yeremenko was elected to the position of deputy chairman and sports director.

But our athletes debuted a little earlier in 2011.
In Minsk, the European Combat Sambo Championship was held, which was won by Voronovich Aleksandr Aleksandrovich.
In 2012, at the World Sambo and Combat Sambo Championship, Minsk athletes immediately showed very good results.
Tyatyushkin Evgeny – 3rd – category over 100,
Muravitsky Eduard – 2nd – up to 74 (despite the fact that Eduard was born and began his sports career in Borisov, today he trains in Minsk),
Kolbasov Stanislav – 1st. category up to 100 kg.

All athletes train under the guidance of the team of coaches Voronovich A.A. and Sokhadze V.S. SK”Liga”. Under the auspices of the MFBSiSBI and SK”Liga” in 2012 and 2013 a number of competitions were held, these are the Open Championship of the city of Minsk and the Stage Open Tournament for the prizes of SK”Liga”. Also for the second year in a row these organizations are holding the Championship of the Republic of Belarus.
