The history of the development and condition of sailing in Minsk

Sailing in the Republic of Belarus began its modern development in the second half of the 60s.

The first Belarusian championship was held in 1967.

In 1968, at the Minsk Palace of Pioneers, a sailing club was established, which was the first organizational structure for training reserves for the national team of the republic under the leadership of V.K. Palazov.

In 1971, the national team of the republic with an incomplete composition took part in the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR for the first time.

In 1973, the junior national team of Belarus took first place in the complex competition (sailing races and general physical training) in all-Union competitions.

In 1977, for the first time, a gold medal was won at the Junior European Championship (S.G.Khoretsky, class “Finn”), and the national team of the republic took the first team place at the II All-Union Youth Sports Games.

Starting from the late 70s and until 1991, the USSR national team consisted of 10-12 people annually, which was one fifth of the roster of the USSR national team.

The participation of Belarusian yachtsmen in the Olympic Games dates back to the XXII Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 (the sailing regatta was held in Tallinn, Estonia).

In total, up to 1993, Belarusian yachtsmen won medals:
at the World Championships – 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze
at the European Championships – 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze

No medals were won at the Olympic Games.

2001 – won the gold medal at the Olympic Youth Days of Europe (S.Desyukevich)

Achievements of the pupils of the SDYUSHOR of Sailing:
Drozdovskaya Tatyana – 2015 – European Championship – 1st place in the Laser-Ralial class
Sanko Ekaterina – 2019 – European Championship under 21 – 2nd place in the Laser-Radial class

At the Junior European Championship in the “470” class, the crew of Ozernaya Alexandra, Vernikovich Alla won the bronze medal.

Belarusian yachtsmen participated in the Olympic Games (1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008,2012 years.)
