Badminton

Badminton (English badminton, from its own. Badminton is a sport in which players sit on opposite sides of a grid—separated court and throw a shuttlecock over the net with rackets, trying to keep it from falling onto the field. Two players or two pairs of players are competing. It has been included in the program of the Summer Olympic Games since 1992.
Badminton has been developing in Minsk since 1960. The first Minsk City Championship was held in 1961. Badminton began to develop in the DSO “Red Banner” and DSO “Spartak”.

Belarusian badminton players took part in the USSR championship for the first time in 1963: Khodasevich V., Letsko V., Korchevsky V., Khmyz V., Drozdova L.

The founders of badminton in Minsk were Olbinsky M., Grafman A., Khodasevich V.

Since 1968, the athletes of the Belarusian national team have regularly become champions and prize-winners of the USSR championships and championships. Minsk residents achieved the greatest success at the USSR championships and Spartakiads: MSMK A. Skripko, V. Shmakov, V. Chernyavskaya, T. Gerasimovich, E. Dayanov.

Over the years, the athletes of the Minsk city national team have regularly been included in the youth, junior and adult squads of the USSR national team.

Minsk athletes are constantly part of the national badminton team of the Republic of Belarus, which defends the honor of the national team at the European and World Championships.
