Cyclocross (BMX)
This sport originated in the USA in the 1970s. Teenagers imitated the riding of motocross athletes on their bicycles – this was the beginning in the development of BMX. This style of riding can be called freestyle cycling.
THEIR races take place in a circle with a length of 350-400 meters and involve jumping and overcoming obstacles. Eight riders participate in each race, the first four of whom advance to the next round.
The first BMX World Championship was held in 2003, which was attended by 1,600 riders from 32 countries.
On June 29, 2003, the International Olympic Committee included THEM in the Olympic Games program and for the first time this sport will be presented in Beijing (China).
